His office has separately criticized the Trump administration’s Operation Midway Blitz and described the federal immigration operation as excessive.
The escalation comes as Pritzker is playing a more prominent national role in the 2026 election cycle. He recently launched a $20 million political action committee intended to support Democratic congressional candidates, including candidates in districts that voted for Trump in 2024.
Pritzker’s latest remarks reflect a broader Democratic effort to make the 2026 elections a referendum on Trump’s second-term record. Republicans, meanwhile, have used their Dallas convention to highlight Trump’s policies and rally voters around the administration’s agenda.
The increasingly personal rhetoric underscores how sharply the two parties are positioning themselves ahead of the November midterm elections.
