Liu Lijun came here on a visa, used a UCLA quad to organize for Hamas, and just lost the visa. That is the correct order.

🚨 VIRAL CLAIM ABOUT UCLA STUDENT’S VISA FACES SERIOUS QUESTIONS

A widely circulated social-media claim says Chinese national Liu Lijun, described online as a UCLA student involved in pro-Palestinian demonstrations, had her U.S. visa revoked over alleged support for Hamas.

But there is a major problem with that story: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it had no information supporting the claim, while reporting from USC Annenberg found that the person shown in widely shared footage was reportedly misidentified. There was also no public documentation confirming that a UCLA student named Liu Lijun had her visa revoked.

The controversy comes amid a broader Trump administration policy toward foreign students involved in pro-Palestinian or pro-Hamas activity. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has publicly said that the government can revoke visas when foreign nationals engage in activities that the administration determines conflict with U.S. foreign-policy interests.

That broader policy is real. But it should not be confused with proof that this particular UCLA student lost a visa.

In other words, the policy debate is legitimate—but the viral “Liu Lijun” story remains unverified.

When immigration status, universities, political activism, and allegations involving Hamas are involved, getting the facts right matters.

A powerful headline may get attention.

Verified facts build trust.
