U.S. Military Says All Recent Iranian Attacks on Navy Warships Failed

U.S. Forces Strike Iranian Oil Tankers After Failed Attacks on American Warships

U.S. forces have destroyed five Iranian oil tankers following recent ballistic-missile attacks by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against U.S. Navy vessels, according to U.S. Central Command.

CENTCOM said an American warship successfully evaded two missile attacks launched over a two-day period and that no U.S. personnel were injured. The five tankers were subsequently targeted in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island, a major Iranian oil-export hub. Crews were reportedly ordered to abandon the vessels before the strikes.

The strikes represent another escalation in the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a major flashpoint for military and economic tensions. Iran has also launched missiles toward U.S. forces in Jordan, while Jordan says its military intercepted 18 Iranian missiles.

The military escalation is also affecting global energy markets. Brent crude has risen toward $100 a barrel as concerns grow over disruptions to oil shipments through the region.

The latest developments underscore how military actions targeting oil infrastructure and shipping could have consequences far beyond the battlefield, potentially affecting energy supplies, transportation and fuel prices worldwide.
