Lone Lindsay Clancy jury holdout mimicked the horrific stranglings of killer mom’s three kids: ‘I was shocked’

The trial ended Sept. 4 after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. A note from the foreperson indicated the panel was split 11-1, with the single holdout at the center of the dispute. The judge declined requests from the defense to remove the juror or conduct further questioning about his deliberations.

Dargie said several jurors initially appeared to favor a guilty verdict but that he ultimately found aspects of the prosecution’s case inconsistent and considered testimony from defense experts more persuasive.
Another juror, identified as Juror No. 5 and speaking anonymously to CBS Boston, offered a different perspective. She said the holdout was not the only juror who was unwilling to reconsider his or her position and described the deliberations as involving “big personalities.” She said there was ultimately “so much doubt” in her mind.

Clancy was accused of killing her three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. Her defense argued that she was not criminally responsible because she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors argued that she planned the killings and understood right from wrong.

The mistrial leaves the case unresolved. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has not yet announced whether prosecutors will seek a new trial. Clancy remains in psychiatric care at Tewksbury State Hospital while the next legal steps are considered.
